I really like this book. Not because its full of facts and figures, or a recipe of “how-to’s” and “to-do’s” to improve your management skills, but because it captures so well the behavioral nuances which hold back leaders from reaching their peak of effectiveness. Many of the same skills that worked to elevate us to a leadership role may begin to work against us when continuing up the corporate ladder. Consider, for example, your skill of self-promotion, desire to always win, ability to compartmentalize information, to make independent quick decisions – these attributes can quickly become liabilities as the leader’s span of influence expands.

“What Got You Here Won’t Get You There” is a fast and satisfying read that will leave you with plenty of personal insights to introspect on and which will inspire you to examine your own leadership skills
